Last year, I lost my running mojo.
I went through a massive slump, a bit of a running depression you could say, after I spectacularly failed to run the Manchester Marathon. Well, to be honest, I had no choice, a horrendous cold, sinus infection and chest infection meant that 3 weeks before the marathon I was barely able to wheeze my way around 3km let alone 26 miles.
Help came from the oddest of sources. Scottish Power.
Yeah, I know, weird right?
But they offered to donate £250 to Cancer Research if I ran the Race for Life at Heaton Park.
Given I’ve lost family members to cancer, that women’s cancers are quite common in my family and that some members are currently undergoing genetic testing to see if we have a particularly pernicious cancer gene, it was a complete and utter no brainer.

I ran the race, finished, got my mojo back -it’s the reason I was able to run London this year, I needed to find my love of running again and thankfully this helped me to find it.
So this year when the contact came again, asking if I’d run again? Are you kidding me? Of course.
And that’s why this Sunday, I’ll be putting my trainers on and heading out in that sea of pink and blue to run with 100s, 1000s of others doing their bit to raise money for charity.
Will I see you there?
