Seven weeks to go. And I had a bit of a revelation.
I’ve finally relaxed into my training. First time I did this sort of distance, for Preston Guild Marathon, I reached the 30km point and I absolutely positively hated running. I was sick of it. It was taking up all my time, I was frustrated and I think it’s what meant 2013 was a very very bad running year for me. I completely lost my mojo.

This time, I’ve realised I’m ahead of my training for Preston. Way ahead. And this weekend I realised that if I couldn’t run the 32km I had planned, it didn’t matter. That was my goal distance ahead of London and I could go out and do it another day. I’ve got 7 weeks left.
Which is a good job, because as I headed into kilometre number 17, a cyclist on the pavement came around a blind corner and nearly catapulted me into someone’s front garden. It takes a lot to shake me, but that did. Add that to the weather change – from calm to blustery and rainy and I’d had enough.
But it’s ok. I know I can enjoy it now. It doesn’t mean I can stop – I need to maintain and to still strengthen muscles and keep the weight down. Oh and the boozing is going shortly. Sigh. But it’s now at my pace at my comfort and I can go out with a smile on my face. It feels incredible.
I’m also looking at the next run. And I think it’s going to be the Bank Holiday weekend Fleetwood half marathon again. I can do a half marathon comfortably now, so that 2:22:45 is just begging for me to smash it.
Away from the training, I’ve spotted a new sportswear brand, that looks very exciting indeed. Currently on Kickstarter, DBA Sports is the baby of Storm Trentham – who believes in DBA – Dream, Believe Achieve.
The sports wear is specifically for women and carries classic Fitspiration quotations, which I love. Aimed at every single lady out there, from those loving their weekly Zumba, to athletes on the track, the sportswear is well designed and well made, meaning that it will last wear after wear, and inspire training session after training session.
I must admit, I’m waiting on payday and I’ll be making a pledge of my own. I want some of those leggings…!
